It is vital to maximize the lifetime of belts and other components, and also to assure actual torque and rotation.
Clavis' belt tension meter uses acoustic principles to measure belt tensioning. This meter provides readings that reflect belt tension in an accurate way, without any intervention from the operator. This device is used on a worldwide basis, both in production areas (as a tool for belt tension adjustment) and quality control. It is composed by a small sensor head, which is placed near the belt to be checked. A gentle stroke on the belt is enough to make it vibrate in its natural frequency.
The vibration is detected and its frequency appears in the display. This device can be used to measure tension in all kinds of belts, such as: toothed belts, V belts, poly-V, etc. The measurement frequency ranges from 30 Hz to 600 Hz, which covers most of the car industry applications. It is also available in the 10 Hz - 300 Hz frequency range (Type 3) for special applications. The instrument is provided with a standard sensor, as shown in the figure, but a variety of sensors is available under request.
